Bernard Austin

Growing up in an historic home in the Great Gatsby area of Long Island’s “Gold Coast,” Bernard Austin’s passion for fine design started at an early age. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Bernard Castro, renowned inventor, designer and founder of Castro Convertibles furniture company, Bernard pursues a life dedicated to design and client service.

Bernard relates his most fulfilling client experience: “I am satisfied knowing that I have followed my client’s passion and interests in every step of the design process.” Bernard excels at leading clients through the planning, permitting and construction phases of his projects. From presentations in front of design review committees, to researching and developing historically accurate details, Bernard sets the standard for professionalism and client satisfaction.

Working closely with Founder and Principal Bill Harrison, Bernard has been the lead project manager for monumental renovations in Santa Barbara. Bernard also has led every part of the design-build process on significant projects from Los Angeles to Bend, Oregon. From concept to creation, Bernard’s relentless dedication to quality, authentic detailing and use of fine materials results in works that reward families for generations.
